Windy Mountain Whirligigs is a small operation based out
of a one car garage that has been converted into a wood
shop, I do all fabrication, construction and painting of all
items. Each one takes several weeks to complete. Windy
Mountain started one day when I wanted to find a
mechanical weather vane like the ones from days past.
Unfortunately I could not find any. I would stumble upon
mass produced, small scale (16" to 21" in length or even
shorter) whirligigs but could not find a true Full-Scale (31"
in length) whirligig. I decided to build one. I was eager to
recreate the antique full-size whirligigs that I remember my
parents buying from an overall clad farmer in the White
Face Mountains during our summer camping trips when I
was a child. It wasn't long until I figured there were others
out there who sought a piece of nostalgia that was crafted,
not manufactured. So Windy Mountain Whirligigs was
created.
