How to install mounting post:
(Cedar or Ground Contact posts are recommended)
- First find a spot that will not be subject to interference from tree
branches, shrubs etc.
- The chosen spot should be one where a breeze from any
direction is available. (height of mounting post will be determined
by this)
Drill a 2" deep hole in the center of the post
using a 3/8th drill bit. A jig (as pictured) is
recommended to ensure proper angle is
achieved so that the whirligig sits level with
ground and turns in the wind without wobble.
For installing provided mounting hardware
|
Insert brass or stainless steel rod into drilled
hole using a wooden mallet, then place
brass sleeve over rod. (note: brass sleeve is
important to ensure whirligig is supported
properly)
Using a post hole digger, dig down
approximately 2 feet. Install post and fill
around the post loosely with dirt.
( Note: DO NOT INSTALL POST WITH
WHIRLIGIG ATTACHED)
Using a level, check that post is 90
degrees level with ground. Compact dirt
around post, fill and repeat.
Place your whirligig on its
perch and wait for a
breeze...............enjoy.
Note: Whirligig pictured is
placed in a garden at a
height clearing surrounding
fences and shrubs, allowing it
to catch a breeze. The
nearby trees are close but far
enough away from causing
interference of its movement.
